Global workforce reduction plan: One-third of Johnson Controls' IT employees will soon be out of a job

WEST ALLIS -- One-third of Johnson Controls' IT employees will soon be out of a job.

According to a source within the company, a meeting was held Tuesday morning, July 19th with the 500+ IT employees at Johnson Controls' West Allis complex, informing them that as many as one-third of them will be without a job soon.

This, as Johnson Controls and Tyco are in the process of merging in a nearly $4 billion deal.

A letter will be sent to all employees in September, officially informing them of the layoffs to come.

Johnson Controls officials say these cuts are part of the company's global workforce reduction plan to save $250 million per year.
