$4 million emergency funding granted for flood damage in northern Wisconsin

MADISON — Federal transportation officials have released about $4 million in emergency funding to help repair flood-damaged roads in northern Wisconsin.

The emergency relief funds come from the Federal Highway Administration. Flooding this month washed out sections of major highways in northern Wisconsin. Some may be closed for weeks or months, including parts of Highway 63 in Bayfield County, Highway 13 in Ashland County and Highway 35 in Burnett County.

The emergency funds are for short-term repairs. Infrastructure damage alone is estimated at more than $15 million.
