Update: 30-year-old man dies at hospital after head-on crash in Jefferson County

JEFFERSON COUNTY -- A 30-year-old man who suffered life-threatening injuries following a head-on crash in Jefferson County last week, has died. The crash occurred around 11:40 p.m. on westbound I-94 near Johnson Creek on July 13th.

According to Jefferson County officials, 30-year-old Andrew Tippett of West Allis, died on Friday, July 22nd.

Authorities say the accident occurred when a small SUV and a dump truck collided. Officials say the SUV had been traveling the wrong way on I-94 when it entered a construction zone and struck the dump truck head-on.

When troopers arrived on scene, both vehicles were on fire and the driver of the SUV, Andrew Tippett, was trapped in his vehicle. Fire and EMS arrived and were able to extinguish the fire and extricate Tippett from his vehicle.

Tippett was then transported via Flight For Life to Froedtert hospital in Milwaukee with life-threatening injuries -- and died eight days later.

The driver of the dump truck, a 55-year-old Milwaukee man, was not injured.

Alcohol is suspected to be a contributing factor in this crash.
