Heavy rain falls, gives southeast Wisconsin a needed soaking

MILWAUKEE -- Lawns and crops in southeast Wisconsin may look a bit healthier after heavy rain fell on the region on Saturday evening and overnight into Sunday morning.

The FOX6 Weather Experts say rainfall totals range from a little more than 3/4 of an inch of rain to more than an inch-and-a-half..

Why the rain is needed

The U.S. Drought Monitor released its latest drought summary a little more than a week ago — and parts of southeast Wisconsin are identified on the latest map as being abnormally dry.

The summary noted while it has been an extremely wet week in the upper Midwest and parts of northern Wisconsin experienced flash flooding, much of the Midwest missed out on that moisture. That includes southeast Wisconsin.
