12-year-old bicyclist, struck by vehicle in Pewaukee on July 19th has passed away

PEWAUKEE — Officials with the Waukesha County Sheriff’s Department tell FOX6 News a 12-year-old bicyclist struck by a vehicle on Tuesday morning, July 19th has passed away.

Sheriff’s officials were notified of Ashlyn Flegel’s passing Tuesday, July 26th.

Officials are not pursuing charges against the 34-year-old driver who struck the girl in this case.

Statements from witnesses have indicated the 12-year-old never stopped as she was going down a hill, and went through a stop sign.  Witness statements have indicated the driver was facing the sun at the time of the crash.

The crash happened around 7:30 a.m. on July 19th — near Apple Tree Lane and Prospect Avenue.

The 12-year-old girl was taken to Children’s Hospital via Flight for Life — where she died.
