Mount Pleasant: 59-year-old driver dies after vehicle veers off Washington Avenue

MOUNT PLEASANT -- A 59-year-old woman has died after her vehicle veered off the roadway while traveling on Washington Avenue (STH 20), west of County Highway V in the Village of Mount Pleasant.

The incident took place around 7:00 a.m. Saturday, July 30th.

According to Mount Pleasant police, the woman, identified as Eunice Hill, was traveling westbound on Washington Avenue when her vehicle, a silver Dodge Caliber, veered off the roadway to the right and entered the ditch line.

Police say Hill's vehicle continued in a west/northwesterly direction and entered the open field located north of Washington Avenue. The vehicle continued through the field and came to a rest in a small, dry ravine.

When police arrived, they found Hill pulseless and not breathing -- they immediately began CPR. Hill was transported to Wheaton St. Mary's emergency room, where she was pronounced dead.

Authorities believe Hill experienced a medical issue while operating the vehicle.

No other vehicles were involved in this incident.
