"Hot Rod" the kitten is on the mend; healing from burns

WAUKESHA -- "Hot Rod" the kitten is on the mend after having surgery on Wednesday, August 3rd.

Officials with the Humane Animal Welfare Society (HAWS) say the burns on Hot Rod's abdomen have begun their "heal-and-peel." Some of the "peeling" skin was removed to apply a layer of burn creme. Hot Rod also appears to be having issues with only one of his burned paws.



Hot Rod was brought to HAWS last weekend — suffering from severe burns on his abdomen and feet. HAWS officials say his whiskers were also curled due to the scorching. Officials say he will need several months to recover.
