Thunderstorms end Shawn Mendes concert early at State Fair

WEST ALLIS -- Thursday night's storms impacted the first night of the Wisconsin State Fair, which made for a potentially dangerous situation.

Police say the bleachers where the Shawn Mendes concert-goers were seated when lightening started are not grounded, which is why they needed to act fast and evacuate the grandstand.

Ending the concert early made for some pretty disappointed Mendes fans.

FOX6 News spoke with some people who say they understand when lightening lit up the night sky and then the lights and sound system went out for a minute.

"All of a sudden this big lightening went across the sky, and then the power went out and his microphone just stopped so then they stopped the whole show. Then it came back on and he played, "Stitches," then it was done," said a concertgoer.

Fair officials talked to Mendes earlier about how they have plans in place for inclement weather.

We also noticed that once lightening started, the SkyGlider stopped as well.
