Skipping the suds: Our stylists demonstrates how to successfully use dry shampoo

MILWAUKEE -- You want to skip the shampoo, but you don't want your hair to turn into an oily mess. Dry shampoo can save the day -- if you use if correctly. Scott Yance with SCOTTFREE Salon joins Real Milwaukee with seven things to know before you spritz.

Everyone tries to use dry shampoo, but few of us do it successfully. Dry shampoo is nothing new. The concept is simple; the alcohol or starch in the dry shampoo soaks up excess oil from the scalp and gives hair a fresh, lighter and cleaner look and feel.

1. Only use on dry hair
2. Spray at least 5 inches from hair when applying
3. Apply to roots, not ends
4. Some brands create specific dry shampoos for your hair color
6. Don`t be afraid to re-apply
7. After you've sprayed, don`t touch your hair with your hands
