"It wears on you:" Milwaukee business reduced to ashes, but owner is hopeful for future

MILWAUKEE -- Some business owners in Milwaukee's Sherman Park neighborhood are trying to figure it out -- what's next after their livelihoods have been destroyed. One owner is hopeful for the future despite all the destruction that has occurred in the last few days.

It's not easy to see your life's work reduced to ashes.

Owner of business burned near Sherman Park

"Trying to keep my faith and just... it wears on you," said Gary Mulheron, owner of A to Z Wholesaler. "It's been a stressful couple of days."

In the early morning hours on Sunday, Mulheron watched as his business burned -- lit by violent protesters. Since then, Mulheron has returned each day, trying to get back inside the place he has owned for 14 years.

He has been speaking with investigators from Milwaukee police and ATF.

"It's unimaginable what's happening around the city," Mulheron said.

Muleron's family stands with him  -- trying to keep him focused.

"I hurt for my father and I hurt for the community as a whole," said Adam Mulheron, Gary's son. "Me being angry is not going to fix this.  It's not going to take back what's been done."

In spite of everything, Mulheron said he will rebuild in the same spot -- because he said he has to.

"I'm a humble person and I don't wish bad on nobody and I believe the good Lord is going to get me through it," Mulheron said.
