Safety a top priority as some students in Sherman Park neighborhood return to school



MILWAUKEE -- New details are expected to be released in the investigation into the deadly officer-involved shooting that led to unrest in the Sherman Park neighborhood. This, as the community works to regain a sense of peace.

On Monday, August 22nd some students in the Sherman Park neighborhood will return to school and the priority is their safety.

LUMIN Schools is associated with Sherman Park Lutheran Church. The pastor said he and school officials met with parents on Saturday during orientation to assure their students will be safe as school begins on Monday, August 22nd.

In the past week, we have seen several community leaders and faith-based groups come together to pray for their city as they work through the recent unrest. One Milwaukee church in particular is working with its youngest members to spread a message of peace.
