Students return to class at Lumin School in Sherman Park neighborhood after unrest

MILWAUKEE -- Some students in the Sherman Park neighborhood returned to school on Monday, August 22nd -- just over a week after unrest following a fatal officer-involved shooting that happened on August 13th near 44th and Auer.

Monday, August 22nd was the first day of class for students who attend Lumin Schools. The school is associated with Sherman Park Lutheran Church.

The church's pastor said he and school officials met with parents over the weekend, leading up to the first day of school -- assuring them that their children's safety is a priority.
