Teen taken into custody after leading police on pursuit in stolen vehicle

BROWN DEER -- A 17-year-old driver was taken into custody late Sunday night, August 21st after leading police on a pursuit in a stolen vehicle.

Brown Deer police attempted to stop a stolen minivan near 60th and Brown Deer around 11:30 p.m.

The driver sped off -- reaching speeds up to 70 miles-per-hour and running multiple red lights. The vehicle eventually struck another vehicle near 76th and Good Hope -- but took off again.

Police say the crash ended near 84th Street and Carmen Avenue after the minivan struck a tree. The 17-year-old driver was taken into custody.

No one was injured in the pursuit or in the crashes.

The suspect is facing charges of fleeing/eluding an officer, recklessly endangering safety, operating a motor vehicle without owner's consent, and hit-and-run of an attended vehicle.

The case will be reviewed by the Milwaukee County District Attorney's Office early this week.
