CUDAHY — A fundraiser has been scheduled for Wednesday, September 7th to help the Wisconsin Humane Society (WHS) with its costs associated with helping an injured fox.
The fundraiser will be held at Jen’s Sweet Treats (4745 S. Packard Ave.) in Cudahy from 6:00 a.m. until 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The owners of the store have indicated they will donate 100 percent of all sales during that time to the WHS.
You may also drop off items all week at Cudahy Burger Joint (4905 S. Packard Ave. or 3823 E. Hammond Ave.) in Cudahy.
The small fox was discovered with a rat trap clamped to its foot. According to officials at the Wisconsin Humane Society’s Wildlife Rehabilitation Center, the fox’s paw was severely hurt — including multiple toes fractured, and soft tissue was damaged. The fox’s paw was cleaned and dried, and a shield made out of a plastic water bottle is being used over his paw in hopes it will keep the fox from chewing on his own foot.
On Tuesday, September 6th, WHS officials said the fox had his bandage changed and officials learned he is, indeed, healing. However, there’s a long way to go in this case, and his prognosis remains uncertain. WHS officials remain hopeful.
WHS officials said several people made donations for his care over the Labor Day holiday weekend, which officials called heartwarming.
