Children, teachers delayed in leaving Kindercare facility in West Allis due to high water

WEST ALLIS -- Officials with Kindercare near 112th and Cleveland in West Allis say some students and teachers were delayed in leaving Wednesday evening, September 7th as a result of high water near the building.

FOX6 News is told 17 children and three teachers were prevented from leaving due to the high water. We're told they were not trapped in the building.

Kindercare staff contacted the children's parents to let them know what was going on.

Teachers and the facility's director made dinner for the children at the facility.

Fire officials helped transport the children to a church at 117th Street, where parents were able to pick them up.

We're told there was no water inside the Kindercare building.

Everyone was able to go home Wednesday, and Kindercare will be open Thursday.
