Kohl's, Northwestern Mutual each contributing more than $1M for education programs

With students back in school for the new year, local companies are making big donations.

Both Kohl's and Northwestern Mutual making separate announcements Thursday, September 8th, with each company spending more than $1 million on education programs at Milwaukee-area schools.

Kohl's officials said the money will be used to provide field trips, while the money from Northwestern Mutual will be spent on third-grade reading proficiency as well as career and college readiness.
