Family, friends gather in Mequon to remember Rebecca Wood

MEQUON -- Family and friends of Rebecca Wood came together on Sunday, September 11th to celebrate her life.

They held a fundraiser at Smitty's on the Edge in Mequon -- all of the proceeds were going to Wood's two children.

Back in July, the 32-year-old woman was shot and killed during a robbery in Milwaukee near 28th and Clarke. The four suspects, who are now in custody, only got away with $20.

"There will never be a closure. But it helps me a lot, cause all of our friends are here, getting together," said Greg Woods, Rebecca's father. "All I can say is, I love my daughter, I miss her very much and I will for the rest of my life."

Family members tell FOX6 News there is a possibility this could become a yearly event in Rebecca's honor.
