Aaron Rodgers intercepted late in the fourth quarter; Packers fall to Vikings 17-14

MINNESOTA -- Sunday, September 18th marks Week 2 of the NFL's regular season -- and the Green Bay Packers are in Minnesota, to take on the Vikings at the brand new US Bank Stadium.

Kickoff was set for 7:30 p.m.

The Green Bay Packers won the coin toss and deferred to begin this matchup.

As play got underway, Packers kicker Mason Crosby booted the opening kickoff out the back of the end zone, and the Vikings would start at their own 25 yard line.

The Packers were able to force a Minnesota punt -- and Aaron Rodgers and the Packers offense then took the field.

Packers wide receiver Randall Cobb ended up with the ball after Davante Adams fumbled it during the Pack's first possession of the game.

The Packers ended up punting the ball, and the Vikings would start at their own 47 yard line after Jake Schum's 38-yard punt.

Packers inside linebacker Joe Thomas was able to immediately tackle Vikings RB Jerick McKinnon for a one-yard loss.

Then came a sack on Vikings QB Sam Bradford -- Packers DE Mike Daniels' first sack of the year -- resulting in a 10-yard loss for the Vikings.

Packers wide receiver Ty Montgomery was able to block the Vikings' punt -- and the Packers would take over at the Green Bay 48 yard line.

Davante Adams drew a 40-yard defensive pass interference penalty, and Green Bay had the ball at the Minnesota four yard line.

Green Bay got on the scoreboard when Rodgers threw a pass to Jordy Nelson for a touchdown. Mason Crosby's extra point was good -- bringing the score to 7-0. This was the first touchdown scored at US Bank Stadium!

The Packers' scoring drive consisted of five plays in 3:08 for a total of 52 yards gained.

The Packers were then able to force another punt from Minnesota -- and would take over at their own 10 yard line after the 47-yard Vikings punt.

Green Bay led Minnesota 7-0 as the first quarter came to an end.

As the second quarter began, Packers tackle Letroy Guion was able to burst through to stop Vikings' Adrian Peterson for a four-yard loss.

Packers officials soon announced Guion suffered a knee injury -- and said his return is questionable.

The Vikings got onto the scoreboard in the second quarter, with a pass from Sam Bradford to tight end Kyle Rudolph for a touchdown. Minnesota kicker Blair Walsh's kick for the extra point was good.

This was Minnesota's first touchdown in their new stadium this season.

The game was then tied 7-7, with 10:14 left in the first half.

After leading the Vikings on that touchdown drive in the second quarter, quarterback Sam Bradford had to go to the locker room to have his left hand examined.

Bradford could be seen shaking his non-throwing hand in pain for several plays before throwing an 8-yard touchdown pass to Kyle Rudolph that tied the score, 7-7. Backup Shaun Hill, who started the opener while Bradford learned the playbook following his trade from Philadelphia, was warming up on the sideline and ready to come in.

But Bradford was able to get back out in time to start Minnesota's next drive.

Shortly thereafter, Packers inside linebacker Jake Ryan was able to break up a pass from Sam Bradford intended for Kyle Rudolph -- and it was then third down for the Vikings.

Then, Julius Peppers got his first sack of the season on Vikings QB Sam Bradford -- forcing a Minnesota punt.

During their next possession, Packers QB Aaron Rodgers threw a vintage back-shoulder pass to Jordy Nelson for a 17-yard gain on third-and-three.

The score was Packers 7, Vikings 7 at the two-minute warning ahead of halftime at US Bank Stadium.

Packers' Micah Hyde was able to stop Vikings' Kyle Rudolph short of the first down -- but shortly thereafter, Vikings kicker Blair Walsh completed a 46-yard field goal to give the Vikings a 10-7 lead with 27 seconds left in the first half.

At halftime, the score was Vikings 10, Packers 7.

As the second half began, the Packers announced Letroy Guion would not be returning to this game, after leaving with a knee injury.

Early in the second half, Minnesota would start at its own 23 yard line after Packers punter Jake Schum's 44-yard punt.

Then, Clay Matthews was able to record his second sack of the year -- forcing the Vikings to punt.

Packers linebacker Eddie Lacy was able to bulldoze ahead for a 12-yard gain -- taking the Packers into Vikings territory.

The Packers fumbled -- but TE Jared Cook was able to recover that fumble -- and it was then first down for the Packers at the Minnesota 22 yard line.

Packers' James Starks was stopped by Minnesota short of a Packers' first down -- and the Vikings would take over at their own 13 yard line.

Another Minnesota Vikings touchdown came late in the third quarter with a pass from Sam Bradford to Stefon Diggs in the end zone. The extra point was good -- bringing the score to Vikings 17, Packers 7.

It was a 25-yard TD catch for Diggs -- with 2:11 left in the third quarter.

During the third quarter, Minnesota Vikings star running back Adrian Peterson was ruled out for the rest of the game against Green Bay with an injured right knee.

Peterson was injured after a five-yard run late in the third quarter. He was not able to put any pressure on his leg has he hobbled off the field and needed to be helped back to the locker room for further testing. Upon arriving in the locker room, Peterson was quickly ruled out.

Peterson tore the ACL in his left knee in the second-to-last game of the 2011 season.

He finished the game with just 19 yards on 12 carries.

As the fourth quarter began, there was a big 39-yard completion from Packers QB Aaron Rodgers to Jordy Nelson on third-and-18.

Soon came a Packers touchdown! QB Aaron Rodgers completed a 10-yard touchdown run, and with the extra point, the score was then Vikings 17, Packers 14.

The Packers' scoring drive consisted of 10 plays in 4:30 for 75 yards gained.

During the fourth quarter, QB Aaron Rodgers fumbled the ball, and that ball was recovered by the Vikings. Minnesota took over at its 44 yard line.

Packers tackle Kenny Clark was able to bat down a pass from Vikings QB Sam Bradford to bring up third-and-11.

Packers' Nick Perry and Julius Peppers teamed up for a sack of Vikings QB Sam Bradford late in the fourth quarter.

The Packers took over on their own nine yard line with 4:38 to go -- trailing 17-14.

Randall Cobb was able to bring in the 14-yard pass from Rodgers to continue the Packers' drive late in the fourth.

As this game was winding down, Packers officials announced safety Morgan Burnett had suffered a hamstring injury, and his return was questionable.

With less than two minutes to go, Aaron Rodgers was intercepted by Trae Waynes. It was then Vikings ball at their 45 yard line.

Then, defensive pass interference was called on Damarious Randall, and it was first down for the Vikings.

The Packers ultimately lost this matchup -- falling to the Vikings 17-14. The Packers are now 1-1 on the season.

Headed into this matchup, the Packers were coming off a 27-23 win over the Jacksonville Jaguars in Week 1. This season is the first time since 1924 that the Packers have played the first two games of the regular season on the road.

The Packers will square off against the Detroit Lions in their home season opener at Lambeau Field on Sunday, September 25th.
