MEQUON — A letter was sent home to parents of Homestead High School students Monday, September 26th after a fight at the school.

The executive director of communications for the Mequon-Thiensville School District confirmed for FOX6 News the physical altercation took place in the cafeteria around 7:00 a.m.

We’re told there were five female students involved in the altercation — ages 14-16.

Staff members were present and intervened.

Mequon police were informed, as was the school liaison officer, and they responded as well.

We’re told there is an investigation by school authorities to determine what kind of discipline the students will face.

Police are investigating as well and could hand out citations or recommend charges to the district attorney depending how serious this is determined to be.

Below is the letter, the Homestead High School principal sent to parents following this fight:

Dear Parent/Guardian,
