"An all-hands-on-deck approach:" Attorney general hosts opioid abuse conference in Milwaukee

MILWAUKEE -- What will it take to win the fight against opioid abuse?

Wisconsin Attorney General Brad Schimel met with professionals to discuss their role on Thursday, October 6th -- the first day of a conference in Milwaukee.

The discussions included treatment and prescription monitoring programs.

Speakers stressed the importance of reforming legislation and policy.

Schimel spoke on how everyone has a role to play when it comes to overcoming this problem.

"We've been hit hard in the Midwest and we've tried to take it on head on. But as I'm going to go through, we've taken it on as an all-hands-on-deck approach. Everybody has a role to play in this -- from the highest levels of government down to every household," Schimel said.

The two-day conference will continue Friday, October 7th as families speak about their run-ins with opioid addictions.
