It is not easy to be back at the scene of the tragedy.

"Nobody knows the way I feel behind this," said Nigeria Smith, victim's mother.

Nigeria Smith is comforted by loved ones as she stands by a memorial setup for her little boy.

"Always loving and caring," said Smith.

Four-year-old Solomon Jordan Smith died after police say he got hold of a gun and accidentally shot himself last Friday. His mother was taken into custody and released. Charges are under review.

"He was so happy he was going to start school. So happy," said Smith.

Instead of that first school day, family is now planning his funeral.

"It's just been very hard for all of us," said Elaysha Jackson, victim's aunt.

They've set up a GoFundMe page to help pay for expenses, but more important than donations they are asking for kindness.

"Everything that somebody can do to help, even if it's a hug, a card, you know, whatever you can do to support," said Jackson.

Reluctant to speak about what happened the night of Smith's death, they share a message instead:

"If you see a gun, don't touch, leave the area, tell an adult," said Jackson.

Hopeful their words can prevent another tragedy, so that no other families have to feel this pain.
