Dane Co. Sheriff's Office searches for missing boater on Lake Monona

MADISON -- Deputies from the Dane County Sheriff’s Office Marine and Trail Enforcement are searching Lake Monona for a missing boater.

The boater was first reported missing on Friday, October 7th when several citizens called to report an unoccupied boat near the shoreline of Lake Monona, adjacent to John Nolen Drive.

Officials say the empty boat contained indicators a fisherman had been on board. Deputies were also able to confirm the boat was launched from a nearby landing on Thursday. The boat did not appear to have damage -- and there was no evidence it was involved in a collision.

The family of the missing boater has been notified and sheriff’s office personnel will continue search efforts to locate the missing boater on Sunday.
