Fifteen young men and women graduate from MPD's "Ambassador Program"

MILWAUKEE -- Tuesday, October 11th was graduation day for the second class of the Milwaukee Police Department's "Ambassador Program."

Fifteen young men and women successfully completed the program.

They spent time working at MPD police stations, receiving leadership training from academy instructors and engaging in community events.

Some of the new graduates said they consider this a first step in a longer journey.

"I have family members in law enforcement, and just seeing if I could kind of push myself through a smaller door to lead to a bigger door in law enforcement would be a huge step for me considering that I have interest in a career path of public safety," Jacob Gonzales said.

The Ambassador Program was created by Milwaukee Mayor Tom Barrett and Milwaukee Police Chief Ed Flynn.
