Man dressed as Batman robs convenience store in Mesa, Arizona

MESA, Arizona -- The Dark Knight turned into a thief in Mesa, Arizona!

A man dressed up as Batman robbed the AM-PM mini-mart at Country Club Drive and University Drive on Thursday, October 6th, police said.

Detectives said the suspect chose food and drink items and as he approached the counter, lifted up his shirt and exposed a handgun in his front waistband.

He also allegedly demanded money from the register. But the clerk started to cry and was too afraid to open the register, so the suspect ran from the store with only his food and drink items.

The suspect is described as a white man in his mid to late 20s, standing 5'6" to 5'8" with a tall, slim build. He was wearing a black Batman mask, black Batman gloves, a black short-sleeved shirt with a white Volcom diamond logo on the front, gray pants and black shoes. He also has tattoos on the inside of his left elbow area.
