Suspicious item found on picnic bench was a… car airbag

PLEASANT PRAIRIE — A suspicious device was reported on a picnic bench along 80th Ave. just south of 104th St. in Pleasant Prairie on Wednesday afternoon, October 12th.

Pleasant Prairie Police and Fire & Rescue crews responded to the scene — and identified the suspicious deviceĀ as an automobile airbag device.

The Kenosha County Hazardous Device Team was contacted. They reviewed photos of the device taken at the scene and determined that it was safe to move. The airbag unit was removed from the scene and destroyed.

The origin of the device and the reason it was placed at the location are unknown at this time.
