Desert Dome set to open to the public on Saturday, ahead of schedule

MILWAUKEE -- Work has been completed in the Desert (Arid) Dome at the Mitchell Park Conservatory -- and it will reopen to the public on Saturday, October 29th. That's about a week ahead of schedule.

In addition to visiting the newly reopened Desert Dome, guests can experience a stroll through the country in the Show Dome, where the farm-like setting includes scarecrows, cornstalks, and hay bales as well as a pumpkin patch.

Milwaukee County Executive Chris Abele issued the following statement about the domes:

“Thanks to the hard work of County staff, volunteers, our contractor Masonry Restoration, and our consultants we were able to open the Show Dome ahead of schedule, have reopened the Tropical Dome, and are now reopening the Desert Dome ahead of schedule. People have been loving the fall show in the Show Dome and are looking forward to enjoying all three Domes over the holiday season and beyond.”

Abele also announced that a grand reopening celebration sponsored by a generous donation from Northwestern Mutual is being planned for December 1st.
