Two injured after driver falls asleep at the wheel, crashes into oncoming vehicle

DODGE COUNTY -- Two people were transported to the hospital early Friday morning, November 4th following a two-vehicle accident in Dodge County.

It happened on State Highway 33 near County Highway I in the Town of Oak Grove.

The preliminary investigation shows that a 19-year-old woman from Beaver Dam was westbound on State Highway 33 when she admitted to falling asleep. Her vehicle crossed over the center line and struck an eastbound vehicle.



The eastbound vehicle, a 2012 Dodge Grand Caravan, was being operated by a 41-year-old woman from Beaver Dam.

The 41-year-old woman was transported by EMS to Beaver Dam Community Hospital for non-life threatening injuries. The 19-year-old woman was transported to Beaver Dam Community Hospital with life-threatening injuries.



Both drivers were transferred to UW-Hospital in Madison for their injuries.

The crash remains under investigation by the Dodge County Crash Investigation Team.

Assisting at the scene was Juneau Fire Department, Juneau EMS, Beaver Dam Paramedics, and DECERT.
