19-year-old man dies after being struck by vehicle on Washington Road in Kenosha

KENOSHA -- Kenosha police say a 19-year-old man was struck by a vehicle while crossing the road -- and died on the scene. It happened near 55th Avenue and Washington Road on Monday night, November 7th.

Kenosha police were called out to the scene around 8:30 p.m. Upon arrival, officers found a pedestrian, later identified as 19-year-old Lavonta McMath, with significant injuries. The Kenosha Fire Department responded and Flight for Life was summoned.

Officails say Kenosha Fire/Rescue was unable to revived McMath -- and he died at the scene.

The preliminary investigation indicates a vehicle driven by a 20-year-old Kenosha man was traveling eastbound on Washington Road. McMath was crossing Washington Road when he was struck by the vehicle.

Officials say McMath was not crossing in a crosswalk or with any type of traffic control signal.

The Wisconsin State Patrol is assisting the Kenosha Police Department with the investigation. The investigation is oingoing.
