Democratic Congresswoman Gwen Moore re-elected in race for 4th Congressional District

MILWAUKEE -- Democratic Congresswoman Gwen Moore did not have a Republican challenger in the race for the 4th Congressional District, but she did face two others -- Robert Raymond (Independent) and Andy Craig (Libertarian). Ultimately, Moore won re-election, the Associated Press reported Tuesday, November 8th.

The 4th Congressional District includes all of Milwaukee and a large part of Milwaukee County.

Moore spoke Tuesday at a Milwaukee Democratic Watch Party in Milwaukee.

"Let me thank each and every one of you for your confidence, your belief that marching into the 115th Congress -- I'm going to be there, ready to kick some butt," Moore said.

Congresswoman Moore was elected to represent Wisconsin’s 4th Congressional District in 2004, making her the first African-American elected to Congress from Wisconsin.

Moore is a strong supporter of Hillary Clinton.

"Certainly, I have to abide by the decision of the American people about the presidency. I think what`s really important for me is to stay engaged and stay on the battlefield, and to keep the right instincts and the right values for the American people," Moore said.

Milwaukee Democrats said they were experiencing a wealth of emotions as they watched the results come in Tuesday night: fear, excitement and relief.

People at J&B's Pub and Grill seemed most interested in the presidential race, which became a nail-biter as many state results were too close to call.

They were also interested in the U.S. Senate race -- pitting Russ Feingold against incumbent Ron Johnson.

There was also support for candidates not in tough races, including Congresswoman Moore and state Senator-elect LaTonya Johnson.
