Police: Milwaukee man arrested after crashing vehicle during police pursuit

WEST ALLIS -- A 31-year-old Milwaukee man was arrested early Tuesday morning, November 15th following a police pursuit and crash.

It began shortly before 1 a.m. when West Allis officers observed a vehicle traveling at a high rate of speed (approximately 90 m.p.h.) westbound on Oklahoma Avenue from 92nd Street.

Police say this vehicle nearly ran into the back of a squad car. Officers caught up to the vehicle and activated their emergency lights in an attempt to stop the vehicle. The vehicle disregarded the officers emergency lights and fled.

After a short pursuit, the vehicle crashed into a light pole near 108th and Oklahoma.

The driver, a 31-year-old Milwaukee man, was taken to a local hospital for treatment of non-life threatening injuries.

The driver was arrested for eluding an officer, recklessly endangering safety and a first offense operating while intoxicated.

The District Attorney's office will be reviewing these charges in the coming days.
