WASHINGTON COUNTY — Officials with the Washington County Sheriff’s Office on Tuesday, November 29th shared details regarding a bizarre incident that happened over the Thanksgiving holiday weekend.

Sheriff’s officials said on Saturday afternoon, November 26th, a “straight time” inmate contacted a corrections officer — stating he had “inserted a candy bar into his rectum — and couldn’t get it out.”

The Sheriff’s Office transported the 25-year-old inmate to a medical facility.

He was evaluated by medical staff and mental health professionals after he told staff he “did it in an effort to kill himself.”

The inmate was then transported back to jail after receiving medical clearance — placed under a “rigid safety plan.”

The deputies assigned to this call were busy from about 3:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m.
