Death investigation on Hickory Trail in New Berlin

NEW BERLIN — New Berlin police have identified a man and a woman in their 70s who died Wednesday, November 23rd following a 911 call from a home on Hickory Trail.

The victims have been identified as 76-year-old William Krueger and 71-year-old Karen Krueger — husband and wife.

Both lived at the home on Hickory Trail.

Police say an investigation has revealed this incident was possibly related to health issues, and didn’t involve domestic violence.

Police are not looking for any suspects.

No criminal charges are being pursued against anyone.

Police say the community was never in any danger.

The investigation into the double shooting started with an odd 911 call on Wednesday morning.

A man on the phone did not identify himself but insinuated help was needed. When police arrived, the front door to the couple’s home was open — and a smell of burnt gun powder was in the air.

Police found William Krueger with a single gunshot wound. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

They also found Karen Krueger with a single gunshot wound. She lived long enough to be taken to a hospital, where she later died.
