Campaign finance violation: Green Bay mayor sentenced to fine, community service

GREEN BAY -- The mayor of Green Bay has been sentenced to do community service and pay a fine for violating the state's campaign finance law.


 Mayor Jim Schmitt pleaded guilty to three misdemeanors.

On Monday, December 5th a judge in Brown County sentenced him to perform 40 hours of community service and pay a $4,000 fine.

WLUK-TV (http://bit.ly/2gYxOLV ) reports the judge required Schmitt to do both within 60 days.

The mayor apologized to his family and constituents during the sentencing hearing.
