"Just terrible:" Police seek suspects accused of stealing from mail carrier, stealing van from Amazon driver

MILWAUKEE -- There is a Grinch who stole a truck's worth of holiday mail, and another evil elf who took an Amazon delivery truck. Brazen thefts have popped up across Milwaukee ahead of Christmas.

Thieves have been targeting delivery vehicles, and in one recent incident, the suspects drove off in the truck!

It's safe to say Mike Guerrero decks the halls during the holiday season at his Bay View home.

"Wishing everybody a Merry Christmas and a happy New Year," Guerrero said.

He often mails gifts -- but a Grinch has been lurking in his neighborhood.

"Stuff from your loved ones sent from afar, mittens, something homemade. It`s just terrible. It`s just terrible," Guerrero said.

On Saturday, December 10th, police said a witness saw someone steal items from a postal vehicle near Griffin and Euclid. The suspect took off, and the mailman came back to an empty truck.

"Somebody had wiped out the whole back of his truck," Patti Madden said.

Madden's mother lives next to where it happened.

"The postman came to her door and asked if she had seen anything because somebody had robbed his mail truck," Madden said.

The day before, on N. Milwaukee Street, police said an Amazon delivery driver was robbed of her keys. Three suspects then hopped into her delivery van and took off. There were 75 packages inside.

"Anybody who`s so emboldened to go into a vehicle like that, I don`t know what they would stop at," Guerrero said.

FOX6 News is waiting to hear back from the U.S. Postal Inspection Service about the theft of mail.

Police said the Amazon truck was recovered. They continue to look for the suspects.

Meanwhile, police said the U.S. Post Office at 35th and Capitol Drive was robbed at gunpoint Monday afternoon, December 12th around 3:00 p.m.

Police said the suspect demanded money and took off.

No one is in custody.
