MILWAUKEE -- Milwaukee police are investigating the fatal shooting of a 15-year-old girl near 35th and Silver Spring on the city's north side -- shot while inside a home in the area.

Police tape surrounded an apartment building in the area Monday evening, December 12th as the victim's relatives waited in the parking lot for information. They were devastated to hear the worst possible news.

FOX6 News has learned the victim is 15-year-old Melanie Johnson. Johnson's sister, Kendra Haney said Johnson loved to read, and was a good babysitter.
