"Don't give up hope:" Father and his NICU son, now 18, visit new families at St. Joseph Hospital



MILWAUKEE -- Santa Claus delivered some Christmas cheer to infants and their families in the neonatal intensive care unit at St. Joseph Hospital Sunday, December 18th.



Greg Phelps and his wife celebrated their first Christmas in the NICU with their son, Kyle who was born weighing two pounds and nine ounces.

Kyle is now 18 years old and on Sunday, he visited that very same NICU with his father, who was dressed up as Santa Claus.

They continued to show their gratitude by sharing some holiday cheer with the families at St. Joseph.

Greg said their story is a good reminder to never give up hope.

"Spending time here as parents in the NICU, babies will have some good days, some bad days and some downright frightening days and I know firsthand about all those experiences, but I think the big thing, the message is, you don't give up hope," Greg Phelps said.

Greg Phelps and Kyle have made the trip to St. Joseph Hospital for the past 13 years.
