Murder-suicide in West Allis: Police say mother of 2 was shot, killed by a former boyfriend

WEST ALLIS -- Police have learned a mother of two was shot and killed by a former boyfriend on Friday, December 30th. Police said that man later turned the gun on himself.

A sign posted outside of the home near 94th and Schlinger reads: "Nicole you will be missed."

Police say the woman who lived there, 40-year-old Nicole Weinkauf, was murdered by her former boyfriend, 35-year-old Caleb Klein.

Officials were called to the scene Friday afternoon, when they discovered the two dead inside as a result of gunshot wounds. The gun was recovered at the scene.

Neighbors who spoke with FOX6 at the time said they felt for the loved ones of those inside.

An investigation has revealed Klein went to Weinkauf's home and refused to leave. He shot and killed her and then turned the gun on himself.

On Tuesday, family members were seen loading up her belongings -- telling FOX6 Weinkauf was a mother of a 21-year-old son and 11-year-old daughter.

Loved ones are still trying to wrap their heads around what led up to such a tragedy.
