1 dead following 2-vehicle crash near 14th & Capitol in Milwaukee, driver arrested



MILWAUKEE -- Milwaukee police are investigating a fatal crash that occurred Thursday morning, January 5th on the city's north side.

It happened around 8:15 a.m. near 14th Street and Capitol Drive.

Police say a BMW X3, being driven by a 26-year-old Milwaukee man, was traveling westbound on W. Capitol Drive at a high rate of speed.  This vehicle struck a Chevy Astro, which was traveling south across Capital Drive on N. 13th Street.

The driver of the Chevy Astro, a 52-year-old Milwaukee man, suffered fatal injuries and died at the scene.

The 26-year-old was arrested on suspicion of operating under the influence causing death.

The investigation is ongoing.
