"Sounded like a big boom:" 2 dead following 2-vehicle crash near 20th and Highland



MILWAUKEE -- Milwaukee police are investigating a two-vehicle crash that killed two people near 20th and Highland Avenue Saturday afternoon, February 4th. Part of the road was blocked as officials tried to figure out what happened.

At 20th and Highland, the quiet late afternoon was interrupted by the two-vehicle crash.

"It just sounded like a big boom and I didn't know where it was coming from," said Jackie Bradley, neighbor.

Milwaukee police say the driver of one vehicle failed to stop for a red light and that vehicle was struck by a another vehicle. 65-year-old Gail Moore and 57-year-old David Hood in one vehicle (the vehicle that ran the red light) passed away at the hospital due to their injuries. The driver of the other vehicle was not injured.

Neighbors looked outside to see a car and pickup truck collided, and first responders on the scene.

"Looked out the kitchen window and saw all the fire trucks and police department and everything," said Bradley.

At least one neighbor said reckless driving plagues the street.

"People speed. People go down one-ways," said Andrue, neighbor.

"I'm praying," said Andrue.

The identities of the victims have not been released at this time.
