Sources: Police investigate murder-suicide involving Milwaukee police officer



MILWAUKEE -- A domestic violence situation turns deadly on Milwaukee's northwest side. Two people are now dead and one of them is a Milwaukee police officer. Multiple sources tell FOX6 News it was a murder-suicide.

"There's no words when you are dealing with a tragedy or a loss of life. There's no words," said Paul Prostinak, longtime resident.



The situation unfolded around 2:00 p.m. Saturday, March 11th. Police say the 47-year-old police officer was shot inside a home near West Goodrich and Arch Avenues, and died on the scene. A 38-year-old woman was also shot inside that home and later died at a local hospital.

It's not clear who pulled the trigger and why.

Milwaukee police gathered evidence for hours.



Neighbors like Prostinak, say his heart goes out to the families involved.

"We live in very challenging time and we just have to continue to pray for our community. And try to build our forces by prayer and support and know these guys, these officers face unbelievable challenges everyday," said Prostinak.

This is still an active investigation. More information is expected to be released on Monday.
