18 vehicles involved in chain-reaction crash on I-41 in Richfield; Newburg hit with 15" of snow



RICHFIELD -- Officials with the Wisconsin Department of Transportation said 18 vehicles were involved in a chain-reaction crash on I-41 near the 41/45 split near Richfield in Washington County Monday afternoon, March 13th as snow fell across SE WI.

The two left lanes of I-41/US 45 northbound were CLOSED at Cedar Creek near Richfield -- near the I-41/45 split.

This, as of 2:30 p.m.

State Patrol officials later said 18 vehicles were involved in this chain-reaction crash, including five semis and 13 passenger vehicles. Two people suffered minor injuries.

The scene was cleared as of about 4:10 p.m.



A separate series of crashes closed I-41 near Slinger during Monday's snowfall. That incident involved dozens of vehicles -- approximately 60.

Meanwhile, folks in Newburg in Washington County were busy digging out from under more than FIFTEEN inches of snow.

"I'm done. I'm done! I want summer," Cari Rogers said.

Unfortunately for Rogers, on Monday, she learned her snowblower was no longer functioning.

"I will be out here for at least another hour. This is the worst one we've had so far," Rogers said.
