5 in custody after pursuit of stolen vehicle in Brown Deer, Mequon

MEQUON -- A police pursuit ended in Mequon Wednesday afternoon, May 17th, and several arrests were made. Brown Deer police said this all began with the attempted theft of a vehicle from the parking lot of the TJ Maxx store on N. Green Bay Road near Brown Deer Road.

Police said around 2:30 p.m. Wednesday, officers were dispatched to the TJ Maxx for a report of an attempted theft of a vehicle from the parking lot. They were advised that the suspects fled in a gold Sebring, headed towards Brown Deer Road.

Officers located the vehicle and attempted to stop it near 52nd and Brown Deer, but it failed to stop.

The vehicle was then pursued into Mequon, and the pursuit was terminated after two squads were damaged by the suspect vehicle.

Mequon police located the suspect vehicle a short time later, and determined it had been stolen from Milwaukee.

Five suspects, ranging in age from 16 to 18 were arrested -- and Mequon police are pursuing charges out of Ozaukee County.

Two suspects had to be taken to the hospital for treatment of injuries not believed to be life-threatening.

The investigation is ongoing.
