Milwaukee police officer accidentally shot by fellow officer while responding to fight



MILWAUKEE -- Milwaukee police say a 32-year-old officer was accidentally shot by a fellow officer while responding to a call near 35th and Toronto Streets Thursday night, June 1st.

Police say they were called to the scene around 9:40 p.m. for a report of a fight. While on scene, "several vicious dogs affiliated with the residence being investigated, charged the officers."

Officials say they attempted to control the dogs with non-lethal means but were unsuccessful. A 28-year-old officer with five-and-a-half years experience discharged his weapon and the 32-year-old officer was inadvertently struck.



The injured officer suffered a non-life threatening injury and is being treated at a local hospital.

The officer who discharged his weapon will be placed on administrative duty as per policy.
