Medical examiner investigates deaths of 2 children; sources say 1 is a homicide



MILWAUKEE -- Officials with the Milwaukee County Medical Examiner's Office said Sunday, June 4th they're investigating the deaths of two babies in Milwaukee, and sources say one case is being investigated as a homicide.

The medical examiner said the deaths of a one-year-old and three-year-old child occurred in separate locations on the city's north side. The death of the one-year-old is being investigated as a homicide, sources say.



The one-year-old died near 38th and Villard. There was a heavy police presence there on Sunday afternoon. FOX6 News knocked on the door of the home taped off by police, but no one answered. Neighbors said there are a lot of children on the block, but they were unaware of anything criminal taking place.

Chaplains from the Salvation Army were on hand to offer support and referrals for counseling to anyone grieving at this time.

"We're here to help. Not just the family -- everybody. Our job is to come to the scene and help the -- any family members, neighbors, officers, or anyone that needs grief counseling. God sends and guides us," Marcy Spoke, chaplain said.

The three-year-old's death happened at a separate location. Few details are known at this point.

Autopsies are set for Monday.
