Mount Pleasant police: 2 suspects arrested in connection with the death of Olivia Mackay

KENOSHA COUNTY — Mount Pleasant police say two suspects have been arrested in connection with the death of a 17-year-old girl, who was found dead in Kenosha County.

Police arrested 19-year-old Daniel Tate and 17-year-old Jamari Cook for the death of Olivia Mackay. They were arrested on August 3rd by Mount Pleasant and Kenosha police. They have not yet been formally charged.

Mackay’s body was found along Louis Sorenson Road in the Village of Mount Pleasant on July 24th. She was the subject of a missing person's report after she failed to show up to work.

"I knew something was radically wrong because we couldn't even get close, you know? They had the whole road blocked off," a neighbor living near Louis Sorenson Road said.

"Just always so caring, just making sure that everybody was OK," Cara Farmer, a friend of Mackay's said during a gathering in her honor along Kenosha's lakefront.

Police do know the cause of death in this case, but that hasn't been released at this point. Investigators have also not said how they suspect Tate and Cook were involved in Mackay's death.

Tate is being held on $10,000 cash bond for bail jumping -- related to a battery case. At his home, no one wanted to talk about the case on Friday, August 4th.

Kenosha police are now leading this investigation. The investigation is still active and anyone with information related to this case is urged to contact the Kenosha Police Department Detective Bureau at 262-605-5203.
