Father and son pull man from water at Quarry Lake Park in Mount Pleasant: "Praying he makes it"

MOUNT PLEASANT -- A 23-year-old man was pulled from the water at Quarry Lake Park in Mount Pleasant in Racine County Saturday, August 5th by good Samaritans -- and taken to the hospital, where he is in critical condition.

It happened around 4:30 p.m.

According to the Racine County Sheriff's Office, a 911 call came in regarding a man in the water at Quarry Lake Park, struggling to keep his head above water -- screaming. The caller indicated they thought the victim may have been stuck on something under the water.

The Racine County Sheriff’s Office, the City of Racine Police Department, and the City of Racine Fire Department - Rescue - Dive Team, and South Shore Fire and Rescue all responded immediately.

A good Samaritan entered the water and pulled the victim out -- starting CPR on the victim along with a police officer.

The victim was taken to the hospital from the scene, and then transported to Froedtert Hospital via Flight for Life.

A good Samaritan also had to be taken to the hospital after he became snagged on a four-inch fishing lure with treble hooks on either side that dug into his arm and had to be medically removed.

Sheriff's officials said it appears that's what the victim was caught up in.
