"Enough is enough:" Man dead, woman hurt after shooting on Milwaukee's north side

MILWAUKEE -- Milwaukee police are investigating a double shooting that claimed the life of a 32-year-old man Thursday morning, August 10th. A woman also endured a gunshot wound -- and was taken to the hospital for treatment.

The shooting happened near 39th and Wright around 1:15 a.m.

Police said it's unclear what led up to the shooting. Neighbors said they are sick of seeing gun violence like this play out feet from their doorsteps.

"It's not worth it. Whatever y'all killing yourselves over, it's not worth it," said a woman who lives nearby.

She expressed her outrage after more gun violence in her neighborhood.

"I heard gunshots. I ran back into the house, ran through my front room. I come outside and asked, 'did everybody hear that?' And they say 'yes,'" the woman said.

Police said the 32-year-old man was shot several times. Despite life-saving efforts by the Milwaukee Fire Department, the victim died of his injuries.

The woman who lives nearby said she believes she saw one of the suspects dash through her front yard without a shirt on.

"Next thing you know, we see somebody run through our yard -- jumping fences, and then next thing you know, we hear a whole bunch of police cars," the woman said.

The woman who lives nearby said this shooting was the final straw and she is now planning on moving out of the neighborhood with her daughter. She had a message for those involved in this violence:

"Your mama's out here crying, making arrangements for funerals and it's not right at all. Y'all killing your families. Stop please! Enough is enough," said the woman.

Police said the investigation is ongoing and details regarding the events leading up to the shooting are unclear.

Police continue to search for a motive in the shooting and any suspect(s) that were involved.
