Police say a 30-year-old man, a 26-year-old man, and a 24-year-old man were shot during circumstances that remain unclear at this time. The 26-year-old man, later identified Kakuma Kennedy,  died from his injuries.

Johnthan Izard said people scattered when gunfire erupted.

"I heard like four, five shots," Izard said. "I heard some screaming, then I heard ambulances and police pull up later."

Max Marciniak was taken aback by the shooting, saying it's unusual to have that type of criminal activity in that neighborhood.

"It's sad and terror at the same time," Marciniak said. "We haven't had an incident like that."

Marciniak is concerned. Normally on the weekend, there is a line of customers stretching outside of his pizza shop nearby.

"A lot of people come out here to have fun, hangout with friends, get pizza. Not a lot of violence here. So, it's a surprise something to that magnitude happens," Marciniak said.

Folks hope this tragedy in the heart of downtown Milwaukee strikes a nerve among everyone in the city.

Hopefully soon it'll get fixed one way or the other with police paying more attention to it; people wising up and stopping the violence," Marciniak said.

MPD continues to seek a motive and search for suspect(s).
