Medical examiner: 2 infant deaths under investigation in Milwaukee; 1 is a homicide

MILWAUKEE -- Officials with the Milwaukee County Medical Examiner's Office said Tuesday, August 22nd they're investigating the deaths of two babies in Milwaukee.

The deaths of a seven-week-old and three-month-old child occurred in separate locations in the city.

The Milwaukee County Medical Examiner was dispatched to a residence near 77th and Villard around 3:15 p.m. on Tuesday, August 22nd. Upon arrival, officers found a deceased seven-week-old girl. This death is now being investigated as a homicide

Police say she sustained blunt force trauma injuries to her body.  Two suspects, a 37-year-old woman and a 17-year-old female, have been arrested in this case.

MPD’s investigation is ongoing.

The Medical Examiner was also called to the area of 11th and Becher around 3:30 p.m. on Tuesday for an infant death.  A three-month-old child was found unresponsive at the location and later pronounced dead.

An autopsy will be performed to determine the cause of death.
