"You don't know who could be next:" Pedestrian struck, killed by hit-and-run driver in Milwaukee

MILWAUKEE -- Milwaukee police are investigating a fatal hit-and-run crash involving a pedestrian that occurred early Friday morning, September 22nd.

A tragic turn of events on a hot September night in Milwaukee sends a chill down residents' spines the following afternoon.

"You don't know who could be next. We're all out here," Joeann Barnes said.

Milwaukee police said around 1:00 a.m. a woman was walking in the road at 28th and Lisbon when a vehicle struck her. The driver took off. Officers are searching for a black Chevy Impala in connection to the incident.

First responders taped off the intersection so investigators could interview witnesses and collect evidence.

"To me, it was very devastating, you know, for something like that to happen. And I feel for the family too," Earnest Clark said.

Family gathered on Friday to remember the 45-year-old victim say she is Latichia Alexander. Her purse and flip flop remaining in the street for several hours. It's unclear what contributed to the crash but many people near the scene said they're fed up with people not taking responsibility for their actions.

"Fast driving, stolen cars, innocent people getting hurt. I don't like none of it," Barnes said.

Again, officers are looking for a black Chevy Impala. Anyone with information should call police.
